UArizona Technologies and Captioning

Options for adding captions to UArizona hosted technologies are provided below. If you have any questions, contact us.


  • Live Auto Transcription *Not a substitute for true professional captions/ disability accommodations for communication access.* 
    • As part of Arizona's Zoom non-HIPAA platform, Zoom meeting hosts can now enable a machine-generated transcript for their meetings for free:
      • Select the "Live Transcript" option in the zoom meeting toolbar. 
      • Choose the "Enable Auto-Transcription" under the Live Transcript section of the pop-up menu. 
      •  Once enabled, users can turn the live transcript on/off for their own view.
  • Recording your Zoom meetings to the cloud will automatically create a machine-generated transcript.  


  • Manually upload captions in Panopto
  • Import ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) generated captions.
  • Departments/Units can choose to integrate your captioning account with Panopto:
    1. Set up an account with a captioning vendor.
    2. Set up an API integration within your captioning account for Panopto
    3. Request your API integration information be added to Panopto by contacting Academic Technologies Support at
      • Make sure you have your API key information, the desired turnaround time, and the point of contact for your unit's primary caption requestor.
