UArizona Technologies and Captioning

Options for adding captions to UArizona hosted technologies are provided below. If you have any questions, contact us.

Live Auto Transcription *Not a substitute for true professional captions/ disability accommodations for communication access.*
- As part of Arizona's Zoom non-HIPAA platform, Zoom meeting hosts can now enable a machine-generated transcript for their meetings for free:
  - Select the "Live Transcript" option in the zoom meeting toolbar.
  - Choose the "Enable Auto-Transcription" under the Live Transcript section of the pop-up menu.
  - Once enabled, users can turn the live transcript on/off for their own view.
Recording your Zoom meetings to the cloud will automatically create a machine-generated transcript.

Manually upload captions in Panopto
Import ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) generated captions.
Departments/Units can choose to integrate your captioning account with Panopto:
1. Set up an account with a captioning vendor.
2. Set up an API integration within your captioning account for Panopto
3. Request your API integration information be added to Panopto by contacting Academic Technologies Support at acadtech@arizona.edu
  - Make sure you have your API key information, the desired turnaround time, and the point of contact for your unit's primary caption requestor.
